An action figure has been created depicting a football fan who heroically fought off a mob of hooligans at a match in the Netherlands.

West Ham supporter Chris Knoll single-handedly took on a crowd of violent balaclava-wearing AZ Alkmaar fans after the Hammers secured their place in the Europa Conference League final.

The 58-year-old fended off the thugs after they stormed a hospitality section where family and friends of the West Ham players and coaching staff were sitting last Thursday.

In a video that went viral on social media, Mr Knoll – who is better known as Knollsy – was seen standing at the top of the stairs at the entrance to the section as dozens of AZ fans charged towards him.

He was filmed pushing back several of the yobs, alongside another man, and not letting any of them get through to carry out further brainless attacks.

Following the incident which left him battered and bruised with his t-shirt ripped to shreds, Knollsy has quickly risen into the West Ham supporters’ hall of fame.

The father-of-four has since been named the ‘Angel of Alkmaar’ for his bravery and has acquired legendary status among fellow fans.

At the weekend, he was given a standing ovation by the West Ham faithful who sang his name during their 3-1 home win over Leeds at the London Stadium.

Yesterday, the club also contacted him to let him know he’s got a ticket with his name on it for the Europa Conference League final in Prague against Italian side Fiorentina.

And now, in perhaps the most incredible nod yet to his gallantry, he has been etched into the history books for eternity with his very own action figure.

A rare one-time only ‘Knollsy custom figure’ has been put up for sale on eBay – and it’s sparked a huge bidding war.

More than 45 people have already put in an offer on the online auction website and the leading bid currently stands at a hefty £620.

It’s certainly not going to come cheap for whoever wants to get their hands on the doll, with many more bids expected ahead of the deadline at 5.05pm tomorrow.

Describing the item, the seller said: ‘I was inspired to make this custom made and hand painted figure with unique matching packaging.

‘It took approx 28 hrs to complete and will look great on display. It is a complete one-off.’

The figure has been crafted showing Knollsy wearing the same clothes he was wearing that night. It also shows his face with cuts and bloodied hands.

A picture of Knollsy taken in the aftermath with his injuries and ripped clothes appears on the packaging alongside the West Ham United badge and an image of him mid-fight.

Speaking following the clash with Dutch ultras in Alkmaar, Knollsy told MailOnline: ‘I’m not a hero. I just did what I had to do.

‘There was another guy who was fending them off. I don’t like bullies and just had to try and stop them.

‘I just thought the best form of defence was to attack. You could see they were intent on causing trouble and I did not want them to get to those behind us.’

AZ Alkmaar later condemned the violence and apologised for what happened after the game.

A club statement said: ‘It turned into a night to reflect on with shame. Not because of the football game played, but because of the behaviour of some attending.

‘Unfortunately, we cannot use the word “supporters” for these people. What happened is beyond all bounds.

‘The club again sincerely apologises to West Ham and the thousands of well-minded AZ supporters who have also been inconvenienced by the misconduct.’

AZ also confirmed it would review all available video footage and that ‘appropriate consequences may follow for those responsible for this outrageous behaviour’.

UEFA is also carrying out an investigation into the violence.

A little further north of the capital, police are having a tough time trying to find a football violence suspect who looks like Lord Voldemort.
