A teenager was rushed to hospital after being shot outside a north west London tube station on Wednesday evening.

The 19-year-old was gunned down outside Sudbury Hill Station in Harrow at 6.40pm.

One witness described hearing five gunshots ring out while another claimed the sound was heard from two miles away.

The victim was found suffering bullet wounds and taken to a local hospital. His condition is not known.

On Twitter, one user wrote: ‘Someone has just been shot outside Sudbury Hill Station in Harrow. Gunshots were heard from as far as Greenford.’

Another said: ‘Possible shooting in Greenford. Heard five close shots by Sudbury Hill Station. Ambulances on the scene.’

No arrests have been made and detectives are hunting the suspect.

Greenford Road is currently closed and trains are not stopping at Sudbury Hill Station.

Pictures and videos posted on social media show a number of ambulances parked behind a large police cordon around the station.

The shooting comes days after a 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death in broad daylight outside Northwick Park station, which is just over two miles away from Sudbury Hill.

Jamalie Maleek Deacon Matthew was found suffering from stab injuries outside the station at about 3.50pm on Thursday.

The teenager’s heartbroken family revealed he was an aspiring lawyer in a statement released on Saturday.

They said: ‘The whole family is deeply saddened and utterly devastated about the passing of Jamalie.

‘We all knew of his ambition to study law, and coming to terms with the tragedy that has unfolded still feels so surreal.

‘We are pleading with the public to share any piece of information regarding this incident.’

As well as Jamalie’s tragic death, a 14-year-old boy was left fighting for life, two others were stabbed and one person was shot in a violent 36 hours in the capital last weekend.

Responding to the Sudbury Hill incident, Harrow councillor Susan Hall tweeted: ‘More violence on our streets…this is when we are in lockdown, dreading when we come out of it.’

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: ‘Police were called to Greenford Road, Harrow, at 18:40hrs on Wednesday, 18 November following reports that a man had been shot outside Sudbury Hill Station.

‘Officers attended alongside London Ambulance Service. A 19-year-old man has been taken to a west London hospital suffering with gunshot wounds. His condition is unknown.

‘No arrests have been made but officers remain in the area and enquiries continue.’
