A train station has been closed after a huge fire broke out in east London.

Dozens of firefighters battled to control the blaze which ripped through a commercial unit located beneath a railway arch near Rhodeswell Road, Mile End.

As a precaution, the train line running into Fenchurch Street Station has been suspended, and commuters are advised to check with c2c for updates on rail services.

In more morning travel misery, TfL says trains District line trains are not stopping at Westminster station due to flooding on the platforms.

The Mile End commercial unit, used as a car workshop, caught fire early this morning and was eventually brought under control just before 6am.

The fire is now under control, the London Fire Brigade confirmed.

Firefighters will remain on scene into the morning, working to extinguish remaining pockets of fire.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and there are no reports of any injuries.

Emergency services were first called to the scene just before 4am, the LFB confirmed.

Fire crews from Poplar, Millwall, Shadwell and nearby stations attended.
