Virgin Media customers across the UK are facing connectivity problems this morning after being hit with an unexpected outage.
Reports have accumulated on DownDetector, a website that records outages, as well as on Twitter.
Problems seemingly started for frustrated Virgin Media customers from around 2 am with things coming back on around 4 am.
However, as of 8 am over 28,000 users had reported that their internet was not working and the issue seems to be ongoing in parts of the country.
The company acknowleged that there were issues ‘affecting broadband services for Virgin Media customers as well as our contact centres’ on its official Twitter account this morning.
‘Our teams are currently working to identify and fix the problem as quickly as possible and we apologise to those customers affected,’ said the tweet.
It’s unclear which areas were affected or exactly how many customers are unable to get online.
According to Downdetector reports, the majority of issues have been reported in London, followed by Birmingham, Cardiff and Manchester.
At 11.36 am, Virgin Media issued an update saying the issue with the broadband had been resolved.
‘We’ve restored broadband services for customers but are closely monitoring the situation as our engineers continue to investigate. We apologise for any inconvenience caused,’ said a Virgin Media spokesperson.
