From Popeyes to Wendy’s a number of popular US fast food chains have taken the UK by storm in recent years.

Among them is Taco Bell, a Mexican-inspired quick service brand which has a cult following in the US for its tacos, burritos and quesadillas.

The chain first came to the UK 1986, but shut down in the 90s before launching once more in the 2010s. The first re-launched London restaurant opened in 2018 and there are now more than 130 branches across the country.

Fans on social media have hailed it as ‘better than McDonald’s’, with some proclaiming it the ‘perfect drunk food’, and saying it’s ‘phenomenal’.

So it’s likely many will be excited to hear that it’s launched several brand new items on its menu in the UK, including a limited-edition burrito for summer, which they say has ‘exciting new flavour’ and is a ‘refreshing lighter option’.

Customers can now order a Chipotle Grilled Chicken Burrito, which is made with grilled chicken, crushed nacho chips, guacamole, Cali ranch sauce, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, a three-cheese blend, and creamy Chipotle sauce, all wrapped in a grilled flour tortilla.

Prices start from £5.19 for the burrito on its own, whereas a regular meal will set you back £6.99 (with fries or nachos and a soft drink), or its £9.99 for a deluxe box which also includes a crunchy taco, fries or nachos, churros and caramel dip, plus a regular soft drink.

Also new on the menu is the Veggie deluxe box, which is a permanent new addition and features the chain’s most popular vegetarian item — the 7-Layer Burrito.

The epic wrap features black beans, seasoned rice, guacamole, shredded lettuce, three cheese blend, diced tomatoes, and sour cream.

Priced at £9.99 the box also includes the burrito, Cheesy Black Bean Craving Burrito, churros with dip, a regular drink, plus fries or nachos.

As well as new items, Taco Bell has launched a number of digital deals for fans who have the chain’s app. These include grabbing a free Crispy Chicken Soft Taco with a £1 spend (9th to 25th July), a free Cravings Burrito with every £1 spend (6th to 22nd August), plus a range of delivery offers

Those who order via Just Eat can get a free 1.5L Pepsi, Tango Orange, or 7UP with an £18 minimum order value during Freebie Fridays through to July 19, and there’s also a Match Day Bundle for four people available until July 21.

On Deliveroo you can get a Hat Trick Meal for three, including a 1.5L bottle of Pepsi until July 15, and on Uber Eats there’s currently a buy one get one free offer on Cheese Quesadillas and 25% off tacos until July 14.

This comes as another iconic US chain revealed plans to set up shop in the UK.

Dave’s Hot Chicken, which specialises in Nashville style hot chicken, has just signed an agreement with Azzurri Group to open 60 sites across the country.

Azzurri currently operates several big name brands in the UK, including Zizzi, ASK Italian, Coco di Mama, and Boojum.

The full list of Dave’s locations haven’t been confirmed yet, but the first branch is set to open in London in early 2025.

Dave’s Hot Chicken started in East Hollywood back in 2017, when four friends who loved chicken tenders scraped together enough money ($900) to buy a fryer and launch a pop-up business in a car park.

They began serving Nashville-style hot chicken and soon people were flocking to get a taste, with Drake, Samuel L. Jackson, and Usher all being counted amongst the brand’s biggest fans, and investing in the company.

Interestingly, there are just two chicken items on the menu — tenders and sliders (sandwiches) — as well as a range of sides including fries, cheese fries, mac & cheese, and kale slaw. You can also order combinations of these to make for a bigger meal.

Customers can personalise their order by selecting a spice level for the dish, from no heat at all, through to the ‘Reaper’ which is so hot you have to sign a waiver before you’re allowed to eat it.
