This is the terrifying moment a hero London taxi driver saved his passenger after machete-wielding gang broke into the vehicle and tried to stab him.
Footage shows the drier waving goodbye to three men who had been riding in his cab.
Just seconds after the trio left the cab, a Mercedes pulls up behind the taxi and at least three men jump out.
A fight breaks out between the two groups, before one of the men who was previously in the taxi jumps back inside.
An attacker wearing a black hoodie and a red mask smashed the taxi’s window with a hammer while another begins stabbing the man in the backseat.
The terrified man – with blood pooling from his shirt – begs ‘uncle, drive’ before the driver moves the vehicle away.
The victim, who was able to fight the attackers off, notices the Mercedes is pursuing them, saying: ‘Drive fast, drive fast, uncle.’
He can be seen with a gash on his arm and over his right eye, with blood covering his shirt.
The driver is told to the nearest police station, with the victim ringing a friend to tell him he has been stabbed.
The victim rings police, telling the operator: ‘I need police, I’m getting followed by a car. They’re following me, they tried to stab me.’
The man took himself to hospital, and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
The Metropolitan Police has been contacted for comment.
