The personal details of a sexual abuse victim could have been made public after a data breach at the London Mayor’s Office.

‘Around 400 people’ have been affected by the leak, which is currently being investigated, Sky News reports.

The breach includes complaints about policing in London – which were made accessible via an official website for four months.

The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said: ‘It’s chilling to think what might have happened and an appalling situation.

‘I’ve still not been given the answers I need.’

The London Mayor’s Office online forms hosted by the Greater London Authority’s website were targeted in the breach.

A spokesperson for the Mayor’s Office confirmed the data was made available online.

The victim had received a notification of her involvement.

She said: ‘I was told to phone up their helpline, but the conversation has left me with more questions than answers.

‘When I asked them to tell me precisely what information has been available, they said they’d look into it and let me know.’

She revealed she has been left ‘partially terrified’ and left feeling ‘exposed’.

The London Mayor’s Office said: ‘A manual error made it technically possible for visitors to temporarily access the content submitted on the two online forms between November 2022 and February 2023.

‘There is no evidence that any of this information was accessed by anyone with malicious intent or that it has been misused.’
