A man has been rushed to hospital with ‘potentially life-changing’ wounds after a stabbing just metres away from a Tube station in north London.

A brawl took place outside a Starbucks branch in Finsbury Park around 2.40pm today.

Metropolitan Police officers attended the scene where they discovered a man with multiple stab wounds.

Images circulating on social media show the victim being wheeled away on a stretcher by paramedics.

Police have since put a cordon in place and are now appealing for witnesses of the attack.

The force later confirmed that a man has been arrested and taken to a north London police station where he remains in custody.

A statement from the Met said detectives are appealing for witnesses amid the stabbing.

It added: ‘As a result of the incident, increased stop and search powers under Section 60 Criminal Justice & Public Order Act 1994 have been put in place to cover the local area, including both the Finsbury Park and Tollington wards until 3am on Tuesday, 12 November.’

Under Section 60, officers are allowed to conduct stop and search checks in the area.
