A man in his 70s died in a house fire in east London that police are treating as suspicious.
Police were called to Oval Road North, Dagenham, at around 5.40pm on Saturday, to reports of the house fire.
The man’s body was found when police entered the home and enquiries are ongoing to find his next of kin.
A man has been arrested in connection with the investigation and is in police custody.
A post-mortem examination will be held on Monday at Queen’s Hospital Mortuary.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish whether the fire may be linked to other incidents in the area.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but is being treated as suspicious.
