London’s weather is far from summery this weekend

The UK weather this July could be easily mistaken for the start of spring after the Met Office predicts cooler temperatures and showers.

It has not been the most summery start for July weather, which turned typically British after a heatwave last week – just as Wimbledon kicked off in London.

Now the latest Met Office forecast shows that the weather will stay unstable this weekend after a wet General Election results Friday.

The now ex-Prime Minister Rishi Sunak beaten by Keir Starmer made his final speech outside Number 10 Downing Street in the rain – just as he announced the General Election in pouring rain without an umbrella.

Saturday, July 6 weather

The weather starts unstable across the UK, with rain lingering in the eastern parts UK and north Wales.

London and the South East will see light rain and occasional sun through the late morning and afternoon.

Wimbledon fans and those heading to Silverstone for F1 and should prepare for mixed weather, with wind gusts up to 32mph and some wet spells that should clear by early evening.

When the Euro 2024 quarter-final game between England and Switzerland kicks off at 5pm, the weather should be mostly dry with the exception of southern Scotland and the North East.

The temperatures will remain below the average everywhere, with highs of around 18C possible in London and South East, the Met Office forecast shows.

Temperatures will hover between 16C and 18C in South West and Midlands, while daytime highs could remain at at about 14C in the North West.

It is unlikely you will catch much sun later in the morning after most of the country will see patchy rain or cloud with some sunny spells.

Sunday, July 7 weather

The day is likely to start drier before some light and patchy rain arrives from the Atlantic.

It will bring heavier showers to western parts of England and Wales in the morning that will scatter across in the afternoon before clearing towards the evening.

Temperatures in London will reach around 17C, while northern and western parts of UK will see temperatures between 15C and 16C.
