The most beloved resident in Beckenham, London, is welcomed into shops, schools, libraries and homes any day of the week to nap and explore.
Stella, a small white and brown cat, is so popular in the area that she has an Instagram page tracking her every move and sharing photos of her adventures.
Becki Williams, Stella’s owner, told BBC: ‘She is a very popular cat. On average, she’ll travel maybe four to six miles a day. Sometimes further.’
A local resident even knitted a mailbox topper showing Stella, surrounded by mice, in the centre of Beckenham.
She wanders into barber shops, libraries and department stores. One video even showed her sitting in a barber’s chair as an employee gave her fur a ‘trim’.
‘She wanders in once every couple of weeks. Comes into the classrooms and curls up in the corner,’ a local teacher said.
Becki said Stella gets a bit moody when she can’t go exploring – giving her mum a fierce ‘Meow’ when trapped inside – but she has a tracker and camera on so her owner can have peace of mind whilst the feline explores.
Though most locals adore Stella, not all businesses are keen to have her explore.
‘I think she might be banned from the gym now, actually!’ one local said.
Another adventurous cat lives in Stevenage, and Metro had the chance to interview him in person in December.
Nala is a ginger cat who spends most of his days greeting commuters who come and go through the station.
Owner Natasha said that while Nala has been coming to the station for almost two years, walking miles a day.
She told Metro.co.uk: ‘He’s just very friendly. Costa has left a box out for him now – everyone just loves him.’
The love for Nala is palpable – each commuter who walks by smiles or nods at Nala, with most opting to rub his head.
A station worker told Metro that Nala loves the area so much, that he was locked inside the station after closing before someone realised he had been left behind the gates.
Not that Nala minds – he seems to know every corner of Stevenage Station.
