Lewis Capaldi was enjoying a casual stroll when he bumped into a certain sci-fi legend last weekend.

The Wish You The Best singer, 27 – who stepped away from the spotlight in 2023 – was spotted walking through a park in Hampstead, London, donning the jersey of his beloved Celtics football team.

He completed the look with matching black Nike shorts and striking pink trainers while accompanied by a friend on the outing.

At the very same time, Doctor Who star Christopher Eccleston was in the same park and bumped into the pop icon with the two seeming to exchange a look.

Eccleston played the ninth doctor in the sci-fi series when it was rebooted, appearing in 10 episodes in 2005.

Capaldi’s latest outing comes after he announced he would be taking time off, particularly from touring, and focusing on his health.

He shocked audiences at Glastonbury 2023 when his performance fell apart, resulting in fans and stars alike rallying around the singer in support.

Noah Kahan posted a surprise Instagram update in May that seemed to hint at Capaldi’s comeback.

The singer posted a series of shots in the studio, accompanied by the Someone You Loved hitmaker.

Capaldi returned to Glastonbury this year – though he didn’t hit the stage. He was pictured in the crowd bopping along to Dua Lipa’s performance on Friday night.

A source told MailOnline: ‘He met a group of friends at Dua Lipa and there was loads of hugging going on.

‘He looked like he was having the best time, finger in the air – singing along. We could all hear him. But then he left after a couple of songs with all his mates.’

Another insider told The Sun that Lewis looked ‘so happy’ and said ‘how pleased he was to be back at Worthy Farm.’

In December he gave fans a surprise health update, writing on X: ‘Firstly, I want to start this by saying I hope you’re all doing well out there, I’ve missed you!’

He continued: ‘As most of you will know, I’m currently taking some time off to focus on my health and wellbeing and it’s been going great! I’ve been working with some incredible professionals to help me learn about and cope better with my Tourette’s and anxiety issues.

‘I’m really happy to say I’ve noticed a marked improvement in both since I decided to take some time off back in June.’
