Around 40,000 participants were successful in gaining a place in this year’s event, which is regarded as one of the most prestigious marathons in the world.
And many of those taking part will fancy another crack at the race in 12 months time in an attempt to improve their PB.
However, hundreds of thousands of runners from around the world – many of whom were unsuccessful in gaining a place this time around – will also be keen to take part in the 2024 edition.
Here is how you can sign up for the London Marathon 2024.
How to sign up for the London Marathon 2024
The ballot for the London Marathon 2024 opened on Saturday, April 22 at 9pm.
Those wishing to take part in next year’s race can do so for free by entering the ballot on the London Marathon website.
The ballot will close on Friday, April 28 at 9pm.
The draw is completed at random and the results will be announced before the end of June 2023.
Successful UK applicants will then be offered a place in the Marathon for £69.99, whilst the fee for international applicants is £120 plus a £26 carbon offset levy.
When entering the ballot, you can donate to the London Marathon Foundation, which will ensure automatic entry to a second ballot and thus doubling your chances of securing a spot in the race.
The entry fee is also reduced to £49.99 if you are successful in either of the draws.
In addition, you can also apply for one of the 15,000 charity places alongside the ballot – if you end up winning a ballot place and a charity place you can return your place to the charity and still raise funds as a private runner.
Alternatively, you can apply to run with a Good For Age or British Athletics Club entry via the London Marathon website.
