Taylor Swift is back in London as part of her hugely popular Eras concert tour.
After kicking off with her first August show at Wembley Stadium last night, the singer has four more performances, tonight, tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday.
If you’ve snapped up a coveted ticket, you might be worried about the almost inevitable queues to get on the tube after the show is ends.
Fear not, however, for travel guide website, Love and London, has shared tips on how Swifties can avoid the worst of the post-concert crowds.
Leave before the show ends
In a video on their Instagram page, Eliza Rain (@disabled_eliza), who went to see Swift perform in June, said her first tip was to leave the concert a little early.
‘Okay, okay don’t hate us but leave a bit before the show ends,’ she said, acknowledging some Swifties might balk at the idea of missing even half a song.
‘We recommend leaving during Karma, which is the last song on the set list.’
Go to Wembley Central
Love and London’s second tip is to go to Wembley Central railway station, instead of Wembley Park tube station.
Wembley Central is around 20 minutes walk from the stadium, compared to around 10 minutes for Wembley Park, however it’s likely to be less crowded, said Eliza. From Wembley Park you can take an Overground train to Euston.
Go one stop the wrong way
If you do decide to go to Wembley Park station – which serves the Jubilee and Metropolitan lines – and want to travel towards central London, Eliza suggests taking the tube one stop in the wrong direction.
So, for example, you would travel towards Stanmore on the Jubilee line and get off at Kingsbury, then change platform and get on a tube to Stratford. This way you will hopefully not have to queue and be more likely to get a seat on the Stratford bound train as you’re getting on earlier.
Book a taxi to arrive an hour after the show ends
Love and London’s final tip is to book a taxi to arrive an hour after the show, allowing you to avoid the stations all together.
Eliza said: ‘If you are someone who gets very anxious in crowds or have mobility issues like myself, or simply want to stay to the very end, we recommend booking a car in advance to pick you up around an hour after the show is finished on the roads around the stadium.’
While you wait you can ‘grab some (Swift) merch’ or ‘head to a bar or restaurant in Wembley’, she added.
Finally, if you do get stuck in a long queue, Eliza said ‘don’t worry too much’ as they’ll all be Taylor Swift fans who have been known to do ‘post-show sing-a-longs’.
Below the video, social media users thanked Eliza for the advice, though one poster joked: ‘No! Don’t let people know my hack of getting the tube one stop the other way. It’s served me so well whenever I’ve been to Wembley.’
Meanwhile, a devoted Swift fan wrote: ‘You lost me at “leave at karma”….just no,’ while another replied: ‘Yes. It is literally the goosebumps parts. Don’t leave!’
