Full list of London Underground line closures in March 2026 – see if your route is affected

Londoners face a choc-a-block month of disruption and pesky changes to travel across the Tube, Elizabeth line, Overground and DLR.

If you need to travel anywhere in London in March, there is a good chance that your journey will have some bumps on the way.

This is because Transport for London (TfL) is carrying out maintenance and upgrade works across the massive network to keep millions of people moving around the clock. This includes the Piccadilly line, parts of which will be closed on some weekends for the much-awaited rollout of the new, air-conditioned trains.

However, coupled with the upcoming Tube fare rise from Sunday, it is going to be less than a sunny start to the spring as passengers face higher prices.

Sunday, March 1

March kicks off with the 6% ticket price increase across the Tube, Overground and DLR.

However, some routes like the Elizabeth line from central London to Heathrow will see prices go up by a hefty 11.5% from the current £13.90 to £15.50.

Meanwhile, regulated National Rail, bus and tram fares are frozen and they will remain unchanged for the time being.

Saturday, March 7

First up is London Underground, which will have no service on the Circle line. The Hammersmith and City line, the shortest Tube route, is always closed on weekends.

The District line will be out of action between Edgware Road and High Street Kensington, while the Metropolitan line is shut from Baker Street to Aldgate because of signalling works.

Sunday, March 8

Elizabeth line

• The stretch between Stratford and Shenfield is closed, with rail replacement running
• Also no service between Paddington and Ealing Broadway until 7.45am

Underground

• No service on the Circle, and partial closure on District and Met lines continue
• Piccadilly line will be closed between Cockfosters and Uxbridge

Overground

• Mildmay line, the blue route, is closed between Camden Road and Stratford
• Liberty, marked with the grey lines, is out of action between Romford and Upminster

DLR

• Docklands Light Railway is partially closed between Beckton and Poplar in east London, and Woolwich Arsenal-Poplar/Stratford, and between Shadwell and Tower Gateway

Saturday, March 14

Fast-forward to mid-March, when the works continue, with most changes listed for the Overground.

Elizabeth line will have no service between Stratford and Shenfield, but a rail replacement will operate.

DLR has no service between West India Quay and Stratford.

London Underground

The Circle line is fully closed over this weekend.

Overground

• Reduced service on the Weaver line, with two trains per hour from London Fields to Chingford, to Enfield Town, and Cheshunt from 9.50am. Before that, a rail replacement will run instead
• Liberty line is closed between Romford and Upminster

Sunday, March 15

With St Patrick’s Day falling on a weekday, many of the celebrations are likely to take place during this weekend, including a parade in Trafalgar Square.

The Sunday disruption will be same as above, plus a closure on the Lizzie line between Paddington and Ealing Broadway until 7.45am.

Saturday, March 21

Elizabeth line

• No service on the stretch between Liverpool Street, Whitechapel and Shenfield, with a rail replacement service operating
• A reduced service between Paddington and Abbey Wood

Underground

• The Piccadilly line will be suspended between Cockfosters and Uxbridge

Overground

• Weaver line will not run between Liverpool Street, Enfield Town, Cheshunt, and Chingford, with a rail replacement in place

Sunday, March 22

Elizabeth Line

The Elizabeth line will have several disruptions:

• Closure between Liverpool Street, Whitechapel and Shenfield
• No services between Paddington and Abbey Wood
• No service between Paddington and Ealing Broadway until 7.45am
• Reduced service between Paddington, Heathrow and Maidenhead

Underground

• Piccadilly line will be suspended again between Cockfosters and Uxbridge as part of the train upgrade works

Overground

• Weaver line will not run between Liverpool Street, Enfield Town, Cheshunt, and Chingford, with a rail replacement in place between Seven Sisters, Enfield Town, Cheshunt, and Hackney Downs and Chingford
• Liberty line will be shut temporarily between Romford and Upminster

Saturday, March 28

Elizabeth line

• No service between Stratford and Shenfield, but there will be a rail replacement bus

Underground

• Metropolitan line will remain suspended between Baker Street and Wembley Park

Overground

• Weaver line will not run between Liverpool Street, Enfield Town, Cheshunt, and Chingford, with a rail replacement in place between Seven Sisters, Enfield Town, Cheshunt, and Hackney Downs and Chingford
• Liberty line will be shut temporarily between Romford and Upminster

DLR

• The line is out of action between Canary Wharf and Stratford, and between Bank and Tower Gateway, and Canning Town and Lewisham

Sunday, March 29

Elizabeth line

The disruptions will look similar to Saturday, except that the Elizabeth line will have three more:

• No service between Paddington and Ealing Broadway until 7.45am
• A reduced service between Reading, Twyford, Burnham and Taplow between 9am and 11am
• Fewer trains between Burnham and Taplow from 11am
