A burst water main is causing chaos in streets near King’s Cross Station, with flooded roads blocking cars.

Twenty people have had to be evacuated from their homes and traffic will be ‘heavily impacted’, the fire brigade warned, as dozens of firefighters try to deal with the flooding.

It is thought to have been caused by a burst water main on Pentonville Road, and is affecting an area of around 250 square metres.

Crews are using flood barriers to safely divert water, with eight fire engines also sent to the scene.

‘Please avoid the area as crews respond,’ London Fire Brigade said.

Footage shared on X show water rushing down a dark street in the early hours of this morning, with the area cordoned off by police shortly after 4am.

Motorists in the vicinity were warned not to try and drive through flood waters, as vehicles can quickly become unstable in moving water.
