Bus smashes through window of Notting Hill house

A residential area in West London was thrown into chaos after a bus careened into a terrace house.

The red bus smashed into a bay window at home in Notting Hill yesterday.

Pictures show the single-decker bus wedged into the building, blocking the pavement and crushing the steps into the house.

The London Fire Brigade confirmed that two cars were also damaged in the collision.

While a paramedic in a fast response car was sent out, no injuries were reported. An inquiry into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

Emergency teams worked to remove the vehicle on St Quintin Avenue this morning, with the street littered with debris.

One neighbour who was in the area at the time of the smash told the Telegraph the impact was like an ‘earthquake’.

The incident happened just after another bus collided with a Waymo car metres away on Barlby Road.

White Waymo cars are currently being trialled with safety drivers across London ahead of a driverless launch later this year.

Other buses were diverted while a cordon remained in place at the scene.

LFB said it was called to the incident at 7:12pm yesterday, with fire crews from North Kensington, Hammersmith, Chelsea, and Croydon attending.

The Metropolitan Police said that no criminal offences had been identified or arrests made.

A spokesperson for the force said: ‘Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade.

‘No injuries were reported, no arrests have been made, and no criminal offences have been identified.

‘Anyone with information that may assist police is asked to call 101, quoting CAD 7570/2July.’

A TfL spokesperson added: ‘The safety of our customers, colleagues, and members of the public is of paramount importance, and we are working closely with the bus operator, First Bus, who are investigating this incident.’

Johnny Thalassites from Kensington and Chelsea Council also said: ‘We’d expect an investigation to be underway to establish the cause, but we’re just glad nobody appears to be seriously hurt.’
