A Big Brother star has been elected as a Reform UK councillor in the local elections.
Alex Sibley appeared on the third season of the reality show, which first aired in 2002, alongside the likes of the late Jade Goody, Alison Hammond, Adele Roberts and Kate Lawler, who went on to win the show.
After becoming a model following the show, the 47-year-old shared his new career move into politics on Instagram just days before the polls opened.
In a snap shared on Instagram, he announced his bid for a seat to represent Emerson Park in Havering, London, for Reform, who is led by Nigel Farage.
As results continue to come in, with Reform surging ahead in the elections, now it has been revealed that Sibley has been elected.
The 47-year-old won the second highest number of votes for Havering at 1,255 behind his fellow Reform candidate David Johnson on 1,306.
Captioning his previous post, he said: ‘It’s Official. 7th May 2026. With a combined age of 126 years old and no degree from Oxford or Cambridge in Politics, we are Emerson Park candidates for Havering and Reform UK.’
Finishing in third on Big Brother behind Johnny Regan and radio presenter Kate, the show launched Sibley’s TV and modelling career.
Following his time in the house, he continued to make TV appearances, including stints on Nickelodeon and Celebrity Blind Date.
However, he later took a step back from TV after a devastating car crash.
Speaking to The Sun in 2020, he said: ‘A major thing happened in my life. A guy ran into the side of my car and died from his injuries.
‘I lost my kids TV programme. I had a live show on Nickelodeon, and I was about to do panto.
‘Because that all lost, I then started hating Big Brother because it was my stepping stone into doing something else. I was making a lot of money. The first year, I made nearly £250,000, which is insane.
‘Every year after that I used to be a little bit excited watching it, but then it would bring back some bad memories.’
After struggling to revive his TV career, Sibley stepped away from the limelight to work in affordable housing.
Discussing his career, he said: ‘I did try getting an agent 2-3 years ago, and none of them got back to me except my old agent, and he said: “Alex, I’ll be honest with you. Your boat set sail a very long time ago”.
‘It’s a bit sad, but I still do blame the Metropolitan Police.’
He also added that during his heyday, he once commanded £10,000 for TV work.
Today, he is married to a French ballerina and has four children.
