Two people have died after a fire broke out in a terraced two-storey home in north London.

The fire brigade was called to the home in Walthamstow around 10.25pm last night, and the blaze was brought under control by 12.22am.

When firefighters arrived, two people were discovered unresponsive inside of the home, and were later pronounced dead.

In addition to the home being destroyed by the fire, half of the roof was also damaged.

London Fire Brigade said: ‘Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from Walthamstow, Woodford, Leyton and Tottenham fire stations attended the scene.’

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
