The UK isn’t really equipped to handle the heat.
And with temperatures soaring towards the 40C mark this week, it’s bringing many crucial services to a standstill.
Dozens of schools have been forced to close, there’s been commuter chaos this morning, and now there’s trouble for those travelling abroad.
The Eurostar has confirmed a number of its train journeys for the week have been cancelled because of the weather – and it’s bad news for anyone travelling between London and Paris.
Which Eurostar trips have been cancelled?
As well as the heatwave in the UK, France is also experiencing extreme temperatures, with a severe weather warning in place and highs of up to 40ºC also expected.
As such, several train journeys between London St Pancras International and Paris Gare du Nord have been axed.
The cancelled trips were all meant to take place between Tuesday, June 23 and Thursday, June 25.
Here’s a full list of the trains that will no longer be running:
- Tuesday, June 23: 10:07 from Paris Gare du Nord to London St Pancras
- Tuesday, June 23: 13:31 from London St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord
- Wednesday, June 24: 13:31 from London St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord
- Wednesday, June 24: 18:08 from Paris Gare du Nord to London St Pancras
- Thursday, June 25: 15:31 from London St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord
- Thursday, June 25: 20:08 from Paris Gare du Nord to London St Pancras
Currently no trains have been cancelled on Friday, but this could change if the heatwave continues into the end of the week. Those travelling should keep an eye out for updates.
What has Eurostar said about the cancellations?
A statement from Eurostar reads: ‘Due to expected adverse weather on the Eurostar network, your train is cancelled.
‘We’re so sorry for the disruption and any inconvenience caused.
‘We understand how much this affects your travel plans, and we’re here to help you find the best way forward.’

What to do if your Eurostar train has been cancelled
If your journey was impacted by these cancellations, you have several options. The first is that you can choose to exchange your booking for another time or date, and you’ll be able to do this for free, so long as you’re travelling in the same class.
Alternatively, you can cancel your booking and claim a refund or an e-voucher. The voucher will be valid for 12 months from the date of your disrupted journey and you’ll need to redeem it on eurostar.com.
Refunds will be for the value of the train ticket, but not for any booking or exchange fees, and it could take up to 28 days for the amount to be processed.
According to Eurostar, customers have three months from the date they were due to travel to claim their preferred option of exchange, refund or voucher.
They add: ‘Please keep an eye on eurostar.com or the Eurostar app for further updates.’
