Dozens of firefighters have tackled a fire behind a Jewish supermarket in Golders Green.
The London Fire Brigade received calls around 6.47am about a blaze at commercial premises behind Kosher Kingdom.
Police have confirmed that no injuries were reported, and it’s believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
Crews from Finchley, Willesden, West Hampstead and surrounding fire stations were dispatched to the scene.
In a statement, London Fire Brigade said: ‘Firefighters are currently responding to a fire on Golders Green Road in Golders Green.
‘The fire has occurred in a building which is three storeys, with a shop on the ground floor and premises above.
‘The fire is producing a significant amount of smoke, and we’re advising people in the area to keep their windows and doors shut at this time.’
Road closures are in place near the fire, including on Golders Green Road and near the junction with Beverley Gardens.
People have been urged to avoid the area.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said that officers are at the scene helping with road closures and evacuations.
They said: ‘Officers responded and are at the scene assisting firefighters with road closures and evacuations. Fortunately, there have been no reports of any injuries.
‘This is an ongoing incident with the focus on dealing with the fire and ensuring the safety of the public. It is too early to have determined the cause. We will provide further updates when we are able to.’
In the last few months, a number of fires have been reported in Golders Green.
One of these was an alleged arson attack on a Jewish ambulance service, which is being investigated as a hate crime.
