  • King Charles and Sir Idris Elba attended a celebration for the National Youth Music Theatre’s (NYMT) 50th anniversary in central London.
  • The King delighted musical theatre students by revealing he owns tap shoes and advised them that acting Shakespeare is the best way to understand it.
  • Sir Idris Elba, an alumnus of NYMT, shared how a grant from The Prince’s Trust (now The King’s Trust) enabled him to attend the organisation, which he credited with changing his life.
  • Students performed for the King and Sir Idris, with one performer, Tochi, expressing how Elba inspired her to join NYMT.
  • King Charles also cut a 50th-anniversary cake, met staff and supporters, and greeted members of the public outside the venue.
