A 15-year-old boy has been charged with murder after a stabbing in Southwark.

Yeray Sanchez-Morales, 17, was found with stab wounds alongside another 17-year-old boy on the busy Old Kent Road on August 27.

Yeray died a week later in hospital on September 3, while the other boy was discharged.

A 15-year-old was charged on Thursday morning with murder, grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon.

He will appear this afternoon at Bromley Magistrates’ Court and cannot be named for legal reasons.

Another teenager, 17, was arrested by officers shortly after the stabbing on suspicion of attempted murder.

He was taken into custody and later released on bail while officers continue to investigate.

DCI Kate Blackburn, of Specialist Crime South, who is leading the investigation, urged the public to get in touch with information about what happened.

She said: ‘Our thoughts are with Yeray’s family at this unimaginably difficult time. They are being supported by specialist officers.

‘The incident took place in the middle of the road outside the McDonalds on Old Kent Road and there were many witnesses.

‘Were you in the area at the time of the stabbing? Were you driving and have dash cam footage of the Old Kent Road? Did you witness the incident?’
