A man who scaled the King’s Cross station clocktower with his pet dog and an Iran protest banner has been arrested.
The man managed to climb on top of the London station clocktower as commuters rushed to work this morning below him on the King’s Cross plaza.
Clutching his pet dog, which appeared to be a Papillon or Chihuahua-type breed, he scaled the tower before unfurling a ‘freedom to Iran’ sign.
He unfurled a sign calling for freedom to the Middle Eastern country and ‘Iran belongs to its people’ in English along with text in Farsi.
Footage shows the man standing close to the edge with the sign, dressed in a t-shirt with slogan ‘no to war’ with the dog on his lap.
He was seen speaking with firefighters who reached him on a cherry picker after the stunt at about 8am.
The rescuers eventually persuaded him to hand over the dog, and it was brought down after spending around three hours up in the tower.
Onlookers cheered when the pet was lowered back down, followed by the man shortly before midday.
He has been arrested on suspicion of causing a public nuisance,’ the police confirmed.
One eyewitness who spotted the strange stunt said on X: ‘A man with a dog protesting against what seems like the Islamic regime in Iran. I don’t know how but he managed to climb the clock tower of King’s Cross station.’
The emergency services put up a cordon around the tower, and the fire brigade brought in a crane to try to reach the man.
He was seen hanging out with his pet and occasionally filming with his phone.

He was seen gesturing and speaking with the firefighters, and reportedly became tearful during the conversation.
BTP said: ‘Officers were called to King’s Cross railway station at around 8am today (2 September) following reports of a person in a precarious position.
‘Officers attended alongside other emergency services, and a man was safely removed from the position and arrested on suspicion of causing a public nuisance.’
Network Rail said: ‘We are aware of an individual on the roof at King’s Cross Station and are supporting emergency services to ensure the situation is resolved safely. The incident was reported to us at 8.10am today, with police and firefighters quickly on the scene.
‘The safety of everyone at King’s Cross is our top priority. Train services are currently unaffected.’
It comes months after a barefoot protester climbed up Big Ben’s Elizabeth Tower waving a Palestinian flag.
The daredevil spent over 16 hours sitting on a ledge while negotiators tried to persuade him to come down.
