CCTV appeal after woman racially assaulted at London supermarket thumbnail

Police have released an image of a woman they want to speak to after a shopper was racially assaulted during an attempted robbery in a supermarket in north London.

The victim, in her 20s, was was physically assaulted while queuing at a shop in Tottenham Hale Retail Park on August 11.

The suspect also hurled racial abuse at her during the incident, Scotland Yard said.

As she attempted to call police during the ordeal, the suspect tried to snatch her phone claiming it was hers, leaving the victim with minor injuries.

Supermarket security intervened and the victim was given her phone back.

The suspect then fled the scene on a bike.

The suspect is believed to be approximately 5ft 5ins tall with brown hair, and was wearing a baby blue mini floral dress and a blue face mask.

Detectives have released a CCTV image of a woman they wish to speak to. 

Detective Constable Natalie Starkey, investigating, said: ‘We take all allegations of racism and assault very seriously and my team is keen to speak to anyone who was involved or who witnessed this incident

‘I would also appeal to the woman in the image or anyone who knows her to contact us.’
